Uh-oh, it's too quiet...

My BFAR support group recently started a photo thread called "While my Back was Turned for Five Seconds..." I thought it would be fun to do a Mr. Linky. If you have a funny story, or better yet a picture, of something your child did while your back was turned, post it to your blog and add your URL to Mr. Linky.

Here's mine:

This was almost 2 years ago, but it's what we found in one of those "uh-oh, it's too quiet" moments. You can see the globs of vaseline on her feet, hands, face, pajamas, hair, and the pile of brand new clothes next to her. We washed her hair three times between then and church the next morning with no improvement, so she went to Sunday school with greasy pigtails. They stuck straight out!

Introducing...

Bonny Blue Baby Wearing! After much consideration, I've decided to move forward with my baby-wearing business. I want to focus on education and will also be making and selling ring slings. My goal is to match mothers with a comfortable, stylish, and useful carrier for their baby (whether or not they choose my sling.) I will be offering classes and one-on-one consultations.

I am so excited to offer my very first class on Thursday, July 31, at 7:00pm. Because this is my first class, I am offering a discounted price of just $5. If you decide to buy a sling, you will get a $5 discount, so the class is free with purchase. A few of you have already asked about my slings, so I hope you can make my class. If not, just give me a call and we'll set up an appointment.

Space is limited, so please make your reservation by replying to this post, emailing me at bonnybluebaby at yahoo dot com or calling me directly.

Another funny kid story...

Well, I hope you find it funny anyway, and I'm sure I'll find it funny eventually.

After getting up early for a run and having a busy morning of grocery shopping, I decided to take a short nap while Sweetie slept. Everything was going beautifully until I was awakened to the sound of a "cat" named Smartie meowing UNDER MY BED! Why!

Addendum to last post, plus an opinionated tod.

I've been thinking about my last post. (Thanks for the encouragement, Amber!) About #3, I guess I don't hate all of my body. I'm actually very happy with my weight. I have no problem with my face or hair. Most of my features are just fine. It's just one problem area that makes me crazy. And it really is a problem, causing physical pain as well as mental/emotional distress. There's not much I can do about it now, though, so I need to learn to let it go.

On to my toddler and her blossoming opinion:

I always make a suggestion for breakfast. Smartie usually agrees and occasionally suggests something else. Until today, Sweetie just ate whatever I put in front of her without fuss. Not anymore!

Me: Do you girls want a bagle today?
Smartie : Ok.
Sweetie : NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Me: Um, ok, what do you want?
Sweetie : A buh-buh-buh!
Me: ....Yeah, no idea. Let's have bagles.
Sweetie : NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me: Ok, how about cereal?
Sweetie : NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me: Ok, how about a breakfast bar?
Sweetie : YYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A BUH-BUH-BUH!!!!!!!!!!!

Then I got out the toaster to make Smartie's bagle, and she really lost it! Calm down, kid! I'll get your breakfast bar!8(

Reality Check

Having been challenged by Kirsten's recent blog, I've decided to post my own reality check.

1. Smartie and I have a lot of conflict, most of it stemming from being so similar.

2. Sweetie and I have a lot of conflict, most of it stemming from being so different.

3. Despite losing a lot of weight in the last few months, I still hate my body. In fact, I cried about it (again!) just the other day.

4. I have a very painful case of endometriosis. It's more under control now than it has been for a long time, but at its worst I've been in so much pain I can barely walk for 14 days/month. Not a great situation for raising children.

Giving Dinner

Papa Runner & I, along with our cousins, are giving dinner on Sunday. We have the food covered, but we're in need of table waitresses. I know a lot of my local readers have small children, and I certainly don't expect you to try to juggle kids and lunch duty. But if anyone is willing to help, check back in the kitchen on Sunday. Thanks!

Happy Fourth of July

Sweetie watched the fireworks from the safety of the Moby wrap.
