Best run yet!

I had my best run yet today. I finished 2 miles in ~32 minutes, so 16 minute miles! I had been taking walk breaks with a 5:1 minute ratio, but this time I ran the whole distance. I've found that instead of walk breaks, a 40 second stretch break makes a HUGE difference for me, so I'm stretching instead of walking now.

Smartie narrowly avoids death by angry mama!

Today is Cubs Tickets day. Anyone who has tried to buy tickets from the Cubs knows how crazy this is. I had two computers and two phone lines going all morning. So I set up the kids with a movie, then had lunch ready for them when it was done.

They completely ignored me for the hour and a half I listened to busy signals. But the instant I got through, Smartie's radar went off and here she came! The automated voice said, "Please state the event you are looking for." Smartie yelled, "I want to sit on your LAAAAAAAAP!" The Voice said, "I'm sorry, I don't understand you. Please hold while I transfer you." *mom gives Smartie the Look of DEATH!*

Daddies and Daughters

In honor of my dear husband who is doing a fantastic job raising his girls.

Happy B-day to Papa Runner, FIL, and Me!

Yep, three birthdays in the Runner family today.

Here are some updates on our Team in Training adventure:
We have raised $1390 so far. It's so much fun to get the mail these days! There is a $1000 minimum per account to continue beyond March 25. We put $1030 in Papa Runner's account, so he has reached his recommittment goal. I still need $640. We'll see what tomorrow's mail brings.

Alternative Medicine

Has anyone seen or know of an alternative medicine practitioner in the greater Central Illinois area? Homeopathic, naturopathic, herbalist, anything like that? I'm not very happy with traditional medical treatments for my endometriosis and would like to try something else.

Drama Queens

Smartie has always been a drama queen from day one. Today she was upset about something (I never did figure out what.) She came running to me sobing AAAAAAAAAAA. I gave her a hug and kiss and said, "Go finish crying in your room." OOOOOOOKAAAAAAY!

And then Sweetie came up with the fakest drama queen cry you've ever heard AAAAAAAAA! I gave her a hug and kiss and said, "Go finish crying in your room." And off she went giggling like a loon.

Playing in the snow

Smartie wanted to play in the snow today, so she went out for about 15 minutes. Do you know what her favorite thing is about playing in the snow?

--fresh air?
--getting some alone time? (Sweetie's too young to go out.)
--making snowballs?

All of these are great, but her number one reason for wanting to go out is because she gets hot chocolate when she comes back in. In fact, one day she insisted on going out--snow pants, boots, coat, hat, mittens--walked once around the house, and rang the doorbell demanding hot chocolate! Little stinker!

Web site is up

http://www.active.com/donate/tntil/tntilBHeinig is the link for our Team in Training website. I'll try to keep it updated with our training progress. So far, we've done our first week of on-your-own training, and tomorrow we train with the team. Papa Runner has done 6 miles, and I've done 4. (He has a faster pace than mine.)

Super Bowl

Last night we had a Super Bowl/Welcome Home Papa Runner (YAY) party. I had a hard time knowing who to root against for the big game.

On one hand, the Patriots are arrogant and snooty and needed to be taken down a peg.
On the other hand, Eli Manning is a punk and I have a hard time rooting for him.
On one hand, it would have been cool to see the Patriots make history.
On the other hand, I'm a sucker for underdogs (I am a Cub fan, after all.)

When my hubby (YAY) decided to root for the Pats, I tried to join him, but in the end I couldn't do it. I was rooting for the Giants. I admit, I laughed like a loon for, like, 5 minutes when they pulled out the win. The look on Bellichek's face was...no different than usual, but still priceless!

Before the game, we informally made predictions on the results. And the person with the best guess was...Smartie! She picked the Giants (because they're tall) to win by 4 (because that's how old she is.)

My First Official Workout

I was ready to complete my first official training workout.

But it snowed 8 inches last night. I have to shovel the driveway first. (I miss Papa Runner!)

But they haven't plowed the street yet. In fact, they didn't plow until 12:50! No point in scooping the driveway if the street isn't plowed. I think I'll work out at home today.

Lucky me, I didn't have to shovel after all. My FIL tried to come help but got stuck trying to get down our street. And guess who came along to save the day? Clark! He pushed Dad out, then came and did my drive! I'll have to make him some brownies.
